Multiple session of PRP treatment for hair loss : Are they really worth? Platelet Rich Plasma treatment popularly known as PRP, is done worldwide by doctors for hair regrowth. We have been doing this treatment for almost 7-8 years now & seen some amazing results with PRP.
A very common question which people usually ask is will it work in my case?
How often do I need to repeat it?
How many sessions do I need to get the full result out of PRP?
Do I need to take any medicine (especially finasteride) along with PRP?
Some important facts about PRP:-
1. Single session is enough to produce results, multiple sessions are not going to enhance the result achieved by one session.
2. If one session doesn’t work, multiple sessions also won’t help so rather than wasting time in waiting for a result, which will never come (without finasteride), once shall look for alternate treatment method.
3. Multiple sessions, rather will be unnecessary waste of time, money, blood and not deliver anything extra.
4. Multiple sessions will put you at a risk of developing tolerance and take away the important tool, PRP as a long term prospect to sustain your hair.
5. PRP works in most of the cases, but it doesn’t work in everyone.
The areas which don’t have any miniaturized hair, PRP doesn’t work.
Most of the times you are recommended 4-5 sessions of PRP, may be at an interval of one month.
Many a times patient is prescribed finasteride along with PRP, and the benefit which they get out of the medicine will also be credited to the account of PRP. Which gives a person false hope. Usually if the patient is not already taking finasteride at the time of consultation before coming to us, we don’t start finasteride with PRP.
Understanding the PRP Procedure
In a nutshell, the PRP procedure involves extracting a small amount of blood from the patient, which is then processed to separate platelets from other blood components. These separated platelets are subsequently re-injected into the plasma.
